The main part of the program is the ThD paper. The average ThD paper is
about 80 to 120 pages. This is a good length for any research paper. The idea
with a research paper is not to see how many words a person can compile on paper.
A good research paper will have a strong bibliography of twenty to fifty books, articles,
websites and sometimes even interviews.
Newburgh Theological Seminary offers a great Doctor of Theology that allows you the
flexibility to write a good paper. Six courses are also required with the research dissertation.
The seminary has a great grading staff and the advisers and administration make the
process enjoyable. Students at Newburgh represent all fifty states and over forty countries!

The applicant must have a Bachelor and Master degrees before applying for admission to the Doctor of Theology program.Application may be made via the official application form found on this site. Or, a student may apply over the phone at (812) 858 3920. We suggest you fill out the free academic evaluation found on the top left side of this site.The Doctor of Theology candidate will have the opportunity to grow in theological perspectives and understanding. Six of the following courses may be selected for the Th.D. program. More textbooks may be incorporated into the degree program. There is a grading fee for adding additional texts and seminars. Talk to your advisor or the school office if this is something of interest.A student may select up to three alternate textbooks for the Th.D. from any page on this web site.Dissertation: The Th.D. dissertation is the bulk of the doctoral program. The paper should be double-spaced with the font no smaller than ten and no larger than twelve. Most Th.D. dissertations will be between 75 to 150 pages in length. A theme should be submitted in writing within sixty days of acceptance into the program. Submit your theme on this site. Note the doctoral theme tab to the left of the web site. Your theme should be your working title. State your proposed dissertation idea in two to three sentences explaining what you hope to cover in your dissertation.Dissertation Guidelines: The candidate’s dissertation idea should be submitted in writing at the outset of study. There are hundreds of possibilities so please email or call the school and discuss your theme idea. The dissertation should be written in such a way that it would be worthy of public distribution. Every dissertation submitted will be considered and read with the prospects of publication. While no student is required to publish the dissertation it is certainly a worthy way of preserving and circulating the student’s work.The dissertation should introduce the theme and then in detail research the theme and provide in lay language the exposition or details of the theme. Footnotes and research notes should be noted numerically after each quote with the source listed at the end of the paper. This paper may be started at the beginning of the doctoral program with approval of a seminary academic team leader. It may not be turned in until the six core courses are fulfilled.Purpose:The doctoral student will increase his/her understanding in this area of theology. The core courses and dissertation will demonstrate academic and practical understanding.Degree Requirements: The doctoral candidate must have a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree approved by our seminary before admission into the program is granted. The student must prove that he/she possesses the academic background capable of pursuing the Doctoral degree. After consultation and review the administrative faculty team will determine if the candidate qualifies for admission. Also, please include the P.O. Box number 1238 when mailing. NTS expects a good ten to twenty page summary paper of each textbook for all degree programs. Typed, double-spaced, Font type
should be 10 – 12. Microsoft Word is preferred when emailing an attachment. If Microsoft Word is unavailable, assignments may be copied and pasted into the body of your email. Please review your paper for spelling and grammar errors before submitting. – Summarize what the book said.

No Travel Seminars: You may utilize three No Travel Seminars. A seminar replaces a textbook. Many of our seminars are Biblical studies/Theology seminars.
